Cookie cutters are for cookies, not homes.

No two households are the same, that’s why no two Waltara Homes are the same. Whether you’re a young family looking for space to grow, downsizers building a coastal retreat, or developing a parcel of land, the team at Waltara Homes will be working to make the experience as collaborative, enjoyable and memorable as possible.

Our Designs

With a custom home builder, you get the advantage of an architect-designed home with the buying power, efficiency and stability of a big building company.

Our process begins with an appraisal of your building site together with a thorough understanding of your requirements, your preferences, your vision and your budget. From here your Waltara Homes consultant will advise you on a selection of home designs and floor plans that can be modified and customised for you. Although there will always be some practical and budgetary limits on what is and isn’t possible, we will always be able to offer a greater degree of flexibility and customisation than a volume builder. Our expert design team will also help you choose floorings, colours, fittings and finishes.

Rest assured that we will always do our best to help you achieve the home of your dreams within your budget and strive to incorporate those special features that will set your home apart.

Your Designs

Designing your own home from the ground up can be incredibly rewarding. The additional cost of having your own architect is commensurate with the satisfaction of having every element designed just for you. Waltara Homes can put you in touch with local architects to best suit your style and budget.

If you already have your own architectural designs, we will work with your architect and designers to bring your new home to reality. We can advise you on costs and building materials, as well as arrange surveying, soil tests, building approvals and permits.

Unusual or steep blocks

The hilly terrain of the Mornington Peninsula can provide stunning coastal views and idyllic rural vistas; but this can mean having to build on narrow, odd-shaped or sloping blocks.

No problem! Don’t feel you need to give up on your dream home just because it’s not a flat block. The experienced design team at Waltara Homes will help you take the best advantage of your block.

Beach Houses

Each summer the beach-side suburbs of the Mornington Peninsula balloon, as thousands of Victorian families return to their holiday houses. However, in recent years more and more people are choosing to live permanently by the beach.

A beach house has a special character of its own and there are some important things to consider in the design and construction of a home by the sea. These include things like: protection from the westerly winds; adequate sun protection for both people and outdoor furniture; building materials that are resistant to salt corrosion; good ventilation and air circulation to reduce your reliance on air conditioning; practical flooring that can cope with sandy feet; and of course, effective security for those times when you are going to be away.

Whether you’re looking at knocking down and rebuilding the family beach shack or building a new coastal retreat, the design team at Waltara Homes will be able to guide you through the process of building your ideal beach house.
